Gaza victims' burns increase concern over phosphorus - Times Online

This report comes not from what some on-line wags refer to as a "liberal breast-beating site" but from the Times of London - hardly a paragon of liberal journalism. And the array of experts cited suggests very strongly that the IDF is indeed using shells banned by international law for use in civilian areas - and the IDF's response suggests that they've been caught red-handed. I've no doubt that phosphorus shells produce excellent smokescreens to hide soldiers and enable them to advance, but using them in a congested combat zone such as Gaza reflects a certain lack of care for Gaza's civilians.

Turn the tables - and imagine for a moment that Hamas forces had access to such shells and were using them to advance against Israeli forces, and that some Israeli soldiers (not civilians, but soldiers) were burned in the process. Can you imagine the howls of protest and accusations of barbarism that the IDF and Western media would raise?
