Obama Toughening Up?

Both Tom Friedman and Maureen Dowd comment in today's NY Times on Mr. Obama's recent job-plans speech - that BO spoke forcefully, that the GOP leadership in Congress (both Boehner and Cantor) responded as if they were were willing to work with him (as Dowd suggests, though, that was probably in response to recent polls suggesting that GOP obstructionism is taking a toll on their support.

I wish I could believe in the GOP charade.  But I also wish that both sides could take the advice proffered by the president of Starbucks, as recorded by Friedman:
The people in Washington should reread the Pledge of Allegiance and look up ‘indivisible.’ ”
